Cosmetic Dentistry

There are two dental specialties that predominantly focus on dental esthetics. Prosthodontics and Orthodontics. Specialists are called Prosthodontists and Orthodontists

Prosthodontics is a dental specialty pertaining to the appearance and health of patients with missing or deficient teeth.

Orthodontics, from Greek orthos "straight or perfect" and odous "tooth" is a specialty of dentistry concerned with the study and treatment of tooth irregularity. Orthodontic treatment can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients' teeth.

When you age the teeth often become darker. Teeth can become stained by bacterial pigments, food and vegetables. Coffee, tea and red wine can also discolor teeth.

Whitening

Dental bleaching, also known as tooth whitening, is a common procedure in general dentistry and especially in the field of cosmetic dentistry. There are several over the counter products for bleaching, but treatment by a dentist is recommended.

In some cases straightening of teeth will improve the difference a smile makes. Invisalign is such a procedure.

Invisalign

Invisalign or Clear Braces are used as a treatment to straighten teeth as an alternative to the conventional metal braces. Unlike the commonly used metal braces, Invisalign are removable. One very clear advantage of which is concerning cosmetics; the patient does not have to be seen that he is currently undergoing orthodontic treatment. Impressions, photographs and x-rays are made prior to the installation of the Invisalign.

Chairside Veneers and Bondings

Chairside or Instant Veneers and Bondings are used to improve the appearance and restore the normal function of the teeth.

This is done by removing a small amount of the specific tooth’s outer surface and replacing it with composite material.
